Happy Mothers' Day!!!!

Ty called at about 2:30 this afternoon to say Happy Mothers' Day to Mom and to tell us about his first month in the mission field. It was a great visit. Jeff was home and could listen in and we conferenced Matt (and Jackson!) in from Syracuse.
Ty told us about his MTC time and how much he loved it. He told us about great teachers (one was a mission comp of Chase Mendenhall) and that he had made some great friends while there.
But the best was getting to Ogden and spending his first evening with President and Sister Joyce. He said that they had a nice dinner together (I think there were 6 or 7 missionaries coming in to their mission) and then a short testimony meeting. He said that President Joyce excused the missionaries to go to bed and prepare for the next day. President said that now that he had met them he would go and pray about their companions and areas and let them know in the morning.
Ty loves Elder Martinez. He is a good, obedient, hard-working Elder.
Tyler appreciates all the thoughts and prayers and loving support that he receives from all his friends and family!!!!
Christmas is not too far away (for our next call).....................

ELDERS GOODRICH & FRENCH

THE DISTRICT

TEMPLE TRIP WITH THE GROUP

Three weeks is not much time to acclimate, but the MTC was great and Ty loved being there. Ty's companion was Elder Goodrich. Ty said he was exactly the comp he had hoped he would get. They got along well. Ty was also called to be the District Leader in his group and made some good friends, including Elder Bell, the son of one of Carol's good friends (Ellertsons) from High School!! Small church/world.

Life at the MTC...

Like all missionaries though, he was anxious to get to his mission and start the process of teaching people.
